Vision:

As a Land-Grant institution established in 1862, Mississippi State University is dedicated to the three broad purposes already mentioned-learning, research, and service: learning, on-campus and off-campus, to enhance the intellectual, cultural, social, and professional development of its students; research, both to extend the present limits of knowledge and to bring deeper insight, understanding, and usefulness to existing knowledge; and service, to apply knowledge and the fruits of research to the lives of people.

The vision of Mississippi State University is to be the most respected land-grant institution in the region. The mission of Mississippi State University is to educate the workforce and leaders of the future, produce robust research for our state and nation, and provide expert services to our citizens, communities and businesses.

The Institute of Golf will mirror the focus of the university as applied to the golf & sports industry. Established in 2007, the Institute of Golf was created to bring together the different academic departments that utilize the golf course and to improve the facility as a whole for the creation of a "Live Learning Lab".
